If you have never been with BlueHost, you have probably heard of it by now. Bluehost.Com is ranked eighth among over a dozen hosting companies and is one of the most recognizable names in the field of web hosting. The company was founded in 1996 and hosts over 1,000,000 domain names.

The home of Bluehost is Provo, Utah, where the company shares the same building as Hostmonster (Hostmonster is a Bluehost subsidiary with same plan features except for unlimited domains).

Bluehost wouldn’t be so popular if it wasn’t for its extensive features and low prices. You can have unlimited disk storage and host an unlimited number of domains under one account for $5,95 a month. You can literally purchase all the domain names fitting your business and park them all on one site. This way your customers will come to your site instead of another one with a similar name.

If you pay for at least one year, you will get a new domain for free (though for the first year only).

Besides, you can create as many anonymous FTP accounts as you want, since most webhosting providers don’t offer this feature.

BlueHost uses CPanel 11, and not Plesk (a major usability advantage).

If you apply for a refund within 30 days, you will get you money back. And if you do it after 30 days, they will retain only what you owe them at the monthly rate (which is fair enough).

Customer Service

As many providers out there, the company offers 24/7 support by phone and e-mail. Recently, BlueHost has been trying to keep hold times below 30 seconds (which is quite good for customer service). Of course, wait times for phone support on a busy day are a tad longer – in the five minute range. BlueHost’s customer service team is based in the USA which is much appreciated.

Uptime

BlueHost promises an uptime of 99% and it actually delivers it. Since 13 Sep 2005, the company’s uptime has regularly been at 99%. Their worst month of uptime was November 2010 (99.94%) and the best – January 2012, with uptime at 100.00%.

With BlueHost, you have a lot of control (rich cPanel) and many features. If you are looking for a reliable web hosting provider with a lot of features for a low price, this is it.
