interest of your visitors in your content and even the SEO value of your website. But with the increasing number of Internet users
the Internet is being congested and there is more and more data congestions which is slowing the capacity or bandwidth of Internet. You cannot control that congestion but you can at least optimize your website to make it load faster even in slow and low bandwidth networks.

Optimizing you website to make it load faster have many benefits , Fast websites gets good SEO value. There are many websites in Internet with a lot of contents so who will wait for your pages to load when they can get the same thing faster from another website? An average Internet visitor don’t view a page for more than 5-6 seconds and you have to catch his attention in that time if your website loads very slow then you loose your visitors!

Website load time is a critical factor which determines the success of your website , so here are some tips for you to make your web pages load faster and thus

Get more visitors to your website:

1> Remove background sound and unnecessary multimedia.

Many websites contains a background sound , and a lot of unnecessary multimedia contents like youtube videos and flash animations , Such unnecessary contents uses a lot of bandwidth.
Make sure your visitors need those background sounds or multimedia before using those contents in your site , try to minimize the use of multimedia contents and even if you use them make sure you use setting or code such that those contents will be loaded only after your user wants to load such contents by clicking on some buttons.

2> Divide long pages into many small pages.

Most of Internet visitors hates a long page with a lot of contents. and such long pages also makes your website slow. So you must always try to divide your long articles into many parts and post them in many pages , if necessary you can link those pages to each other so that your user will get the full information they want.

3> Don’t use nested tables.

If you use tables in your websites try not to make them nested , Or at least try to minimize the number of nesting tables inside another table.
Browsers takes more time to parse or process such nested tables which makes your website slow , not in loading the contents but processing the contents after they have been loading.

4> Use robust servers and use server side scripting.

Always do a good research before choosing a webhost for your website. Use webhost which doesn’t oversells their servers and try not to buy cheap and so called “unlimited hosts” , By doing a good research while choosing your host make sure your server will be robust , and always try to Use server side scripting languages like PHP and ASP to minimize the use of client side scripting languages like Java scripts , Your visitors with a low power CPU and memory will need a lot of time to process the JS and other client side scripting language. So make sure you use Server side scripting where ever possible but at the same time also make sure that your host will be able to process those scripts faster by choosing a faster server, So basically using both Server side scripting and Client side scripting simultaneously will be good.

5> Use CSS where ever possible.

Using linked Cascading Style Sheet you can make your source code will be more lighter., You can represent long HTML codes with a simple CSS codes to try to use CSS where ever possible.

6> Optimize images.
Images are one of the main types of contents that occupies most of bandwidth of an average website.
So you should optimize your images so that they will load faster. Optimizing image is a long process so i have divided this category into further categories.

a> Remove unnecessary images: Make sure the images you are going to use in your website is very important before using it , Don’t use images that will not
make any changes to the look of your site or the browsing experience of your visitors.

b> Compress images: Always use a minimum quality image that is needed by your site, don’t use high quality images , or images with large size. You can decrease the size of your images by simply using the paint program in windows and resizing it or you can also use on-line tools like this: http://www.imageoptimizer.net

c> Use small size buttons and thumbnails: Don’t use large sized images for the buttons and thumbnails in your website.

d> Choose correct image format: Try to use PNG image format in your websites PNG format images requires less size , or Use GIF if you need transparent background. Don’t use JPG or JPEG image format , JPG or JPEG image format are good only for high quality images.

e> Indicate the hight and width of image: By indicating the width and height of the images you can make sure that the web browsers can process the image faster and can load images and other codes simultaneously instead of loading images first.

7> Delete unnecessary code:

Make sure you delete all the unnecessary codes from your website , Like comments and empty tags. Many visual HTML editors like WYSIWYG leaves empty tags in source code like : delete such codes with normal HTML or text editor.

8> Optimize Java Script codes:

Many websites uses a lot of Java scripts, Make sure you don’t use any unnecessary scripts. Minimize the size of your Scripts.
Also make sure that you combine all of your Java scripts used in page into a single script so that the browser need not to send many request and wait for many scripts to load.
Also there are some Java Script compressors like: http://javascriptcompressor.com/ use them to compress your scripts.

9> Use Caching:

In the Point 3 , above I have mentioned using Server side scripting to make your client’s computer do less work but at the same time you should also make sure your server will not be over loaded because of it. For that purpose you can use caching , caching is the process in which you process a Script and prepare a HTMl code for it and serve that same HTML code to your visitors instead of processing the script every time a user request the page. To make sure your website doesn’t always remains static caching softwares or scripts also refreshes the caches after a certain time.

If you are using wordpress then you can user this caching plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-cache/

If you are using PHP to code your website you can use this script: http://www.php-accelerator.co.uk/

And if you are using ASP you can read this article: http://authors.aspalliance.com/brettb/ASPDataCaching.asp
