You have probably heard of Yahoo! by now since it has been around almost as long as the World Wide Web itself. Even though this n American multinational corporation based in Sunnyvale, California is best known for its search engine (Yahoo! Search), web portal, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! News, and video sharing, they also offer small business web hosting.
Yahoo Web Hosting Features
Yahoo Web Hosting offers just one plan – shared web hosting. It is not that cheap - $7.46 per month if you sign up for one year, $8.96 per month if you sign up for a three-month plan and $12.95 per month if you pay for one month, but, perhaps, they charge for the ‘brand’.
The package includes unlimited site storage, email storage and data transfer, media sharing and the option of sharing via Facebook or Twitter (a major promotion source).
Yahoo Web Hosting also promises to back up your website in different geographic locations so it will stay live in an emergency case.
There is also an option of adding PayPal to your website to offer customers a way to make small purchases.
Though the company promises 24-hour phone and online support, they have major issues with this. You should wait between 30 minutes to an hour to talk to their support by phone, and they may cut the call before you get to talk to somebody. They are also not very quick with answering their e-mails.
There are certainly no problems with uptime – after all, it is Yahoo. The company maintains an uptime of 99.99%, which is as good as it gets.
If Yahoo Web Hosting improves its customer service, the company could become a great host, which is certainly reliable (as the name suggests).
