Statcounter.com is one of the biggest sites in internet, it is ranked 247 in Alexa and its Google PR is 8.
It might come to you as a surprise but statcounter is trying to trick Google or in straight words statcounter is spamming Google.
What it is doing is it s putting an invisible link to your website (if you use statcounter to track your visitors)
In the second part of your statcounter counter code you can see following code:
<div class="statcounter"> <a title="wordpress visitor"
href="http://www.statcounter.com/wordpress.org/"
target="_blank"><img class="statcounter"
src="http://c.statcounter.com/5131358/0/7434ed80/1/"
alt="wordpress visitor" ></a></div>
In this part of code it is displaying a very small image almost invisible and inking it to page of statcounter which is related to your website.
That means Google will think you have a link to statcounter from your website.
And you even don’t know that!
It wouldn’t have been a big thing if they ( statcounter ) would have told you they want to place a small link in your website after all they deserve a link to their site from ours after giving such a great service for free! But they are doing it without letting us know!
So statcounter is trying to spam you and Google.
You can just remove the link code from your statcounter code if you don’t want to place an invisible link to statcounter.
Note: This post is not written with any aggressive feelings towards statcounter! Please note that it is only for your information. And this post also doesn’t mean that statcounter is a total spammer

Hi,
I work with StatCounter and I’m very sorry to hear of your concerns.
In our view, link spamming involves links between pages put there for reasons other than merit; in the case of the free StatCounter service, we offer you the ability to track stats on your site at no cost and with no ad or logo on your site at all. If people are happy with our service, they install our code and link to our site thus pushing us up the search engines. If people are unhappy, they remove our code and we move down the SERPS. There is no attempt at deception here and this is, in fact, the way Search Engines should work! Sites that people are happy with move up the ranks, sites people are unhappy with move down.
To reiterate, StatCounter has not and does not participate in link spam or other such practices. We have always included a link to our site in the code that we generate and have never attempted to mislead anyone about this in any way. We absolutely do not promote any third party site via these links as such behaviour would indeed constitute link spam.
The small image you refer to is part of the code that is required to track stats on your site. When the image is loaded, information about your visitor is sent to StatCounter and processed into your account.
At StatCounter, we work hard to provide the best service we can. We believe in being open and honest and make all decisions with our members firmly in mind. We do hope we have addressed your concerns. If you have any further queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
@StatCounterJen
Thank you for your comment about the subject.
Thank you for telling us about the small image.
And , Ya statcounter is a great service i also use statcounter to track my visitors and statcounter is working great to improve my website by tracking visitors to my site.
But still i have some doubts about the link made on the small image.
What is the need of that link if that is invisible!
And let me tell again to my readers that by any means i don’t mean that statcounter is a total spammer!
May be there is some technical mistake or some think like that.
there are really a spammer and google should take action against it,
i don’t use statcounter in my page but there is still this code in my wordpress page, i thought this to be some wordpress stuff cuz i use wordpress plugin to find the visit in my page, but surprisingly i found one of my site ( nepaliunicode.tk ) which don’t use wordpress and statcounter also have this code i reviewed the code in text editor but there is no statcounter code.
Well, Statcounter is not a spammer But using the invisible link is making us suspect. And the code you talked in your web page. I think There is statcounter code in your website code review it thoroughly again.
